Hi, I'm Jake here in Salt Lake City, Utah with Specialized Garage Doors, and I'm going to show you how to adjust the chain on a garage door opener. So, to adjust the chain tension on your operator, what you're going to use is this system right here of nuts and basically what you're looking for is if your chain is hanging down real low, starting to drag on the door, take a quick peek up at the top of the motor to see if that sprocket is starting to wear out. If that's the case then we're going to need to look into that. So, if your chain is hanging down real low, go ahead and loosen up this nut on the right, get that nice and loose to tighten things up. You can use a pair of needle nose or just go ahead and manually one by one tighten the chain up. Then what you're looking for is you want the chain sagging just enough to be slightly above the bottom of this rail. So, right in this range at the middle, at the middle of the chain sag. So, if it's all the way up here and not sagging at all, you've gone too far and we need to loosen it back up. So you have just a little sag to it and then that's the correct way to set the chain tension on a chin driven operator. Go ahead and set this back down. Make sure you're good and tight and you're back in business. Again, I'm Jake with Specialized Garage Doors, and we've just shown you how to adjust the chain on your garage door opener.
