Hi, I'm Susanne, owner of Souly Yoga in Palm Harbor, Florida and today let's look at some yoga exercises for neck pain. So a lot of neck pain comes from tension, we hold tension, perhaps it comes from our jaw, whatever the culprit is, there are a few easy exercises you can do to help ease the pain. Let's just start with really simple shoulder rolls. You just draw your shoulders up to your ears, bring them all the way back and you're inhaling as you lift your shoulders and roll them back and again we'll just do it a couple times back, keep breathing, in through your nose, out through your nose if you can. Just make sure you're breathing and now let's bring those shoulders forward, keeping the jaw nice and relaxed. You don't want to tighten up. So you would just repeat this. You could do it right at your desk and then moving right into not a circle necessarily, first thing take a deep breath in and drop your right ear towards your right shoulder. Now draw your left shoulder back and down and release the left side of your neck keeping really calm. Soften your eyes here, relax, come back center, inhale here, exhale, chin to chest, drop both shoulder blades back and down and release the back of your neck. This feels really great, keeping nice and relaxed through your face, inhale, back center, exhale other side, left ear, left shoulder, right shoulder back and down, stretch the right side of your neck. Just feel the tension draining right out of your neck, come back center and then here we're going to inhale and we're going to stretch the throat, the front part of the neck. So your chin just rises to the sky as your shoulder blades drop back, breathe, exhale, chin to chest, full range of motion on the neck, inhale again, stretch your throat, the front of your neck, exhale, chin to chest and bring your head back to neutral. And another great tip here would be to stay hydrated. A lot of neck pain comes from lack of hydration and so those yoga exercises should really help alleviate your neck pain.
