Hi, I'm Susanne, Owner of Souly Yoga in Palm Harbor, Florida. And today, we're going to take a look at Yoga poses for the shoulders. So, first pose we're going to look at today is called Cow Head Pose and you would want to use a strap if you have one; but, you know what, a towel will work just as well. So, I'm going to turn around so you can see the pose from the back. Now, I'm going to reach my right arm straight up in the air and drop my shoulder blades down. Sorry, I'm going to take my strap with me when I do that and drop my shoulder blade down. I'm going to take my left arm and wrap it around my back and also drop my left shoulder blade back and down. Now, I'm going to bend that right elbow and so, for most people with really tight shoulders, you might be somewhere about here. I practice this pose pretty regularly, so, I can clasp my hands and don't need the strap. However, don't sacrifice grasping the fingers just to do it because you want to relax the shoulder blades and open them up. So, you don't want this action, you want that action here. And then, you can do a back bend and lift your chest to the sky and then you can come down into a half fold and stretch. And then, come back to center, release and you would proceed to do the other side; Cow Head Pose. Another great pose for shoulders is Eagle. And so, I'll show you the Eagle arms. You would reach both arms to the sky and bring your right arm under your left and activate your top hand, which in this case is my left hand. And I drop my shoulder blades down my back. Now, you could add the Eagle leg as well and turn it into a more challenging balance pose. However, you could also just stand in Mountain Pose with Eagle arms. And then again release, reach up to the sky, switch sides. Left arm under right, activate your right hand and breath. And there it is, two poses to really open up and strengthen your shoulders.
