Are you a makeup hoarder? It's okay. Turns out, a lot of us are. So, here's your easy breezy guide to getting your beauty closet up to code. We do the research and give you the results. This is Beauty Lab. We here at the Beauty Lab came up with a secret formula just for you. OCDDQ, organize, clean, decide, dump and donate. Let's start with the Ds, decide what you want to keep, what you use all the time and what you simply can't leave without. Dump, makeup and skincare doesn't last forever. Okay you guys got to get rid of what is junkie, junking up your drawer, getting gunk everywhere, get rid of it okay? Listten, here's your guide. Mascara, you can keep for up to three months and loose powder last for up to two years. Some skincare products actually have a little emblem that donates expiration. It will look something like this. Now, if it has a 6m, that means it will last six months, 12m, 12 months. Now for your perfume, if it's darker in color or has kind of a pungent smell, get rid of it. Here's another tip, always store your perfume in a cool dark place. Here's a chart to help you figure out what to keep and what has to go. Donate, so all of us have items that are still in great condition but we never wear them. It's a great idea to give them away, give them to your sister, your mom, your best friend, somebody who will truly appreciate them. Clean it up, alright now if you're anything like me and you're constantly losing caps or tops or lids to your cosmetics or everything in general, I'm sure your makeup can get a little bit greasy and grimy. So, here's what to do. Baby wipe anything that's gotten smudgy and greasy. Sharpen pencils and scrape lipsticks with a spatula that will help to get rid of any bacteria. Wash brushes and sponges, ehh, they can be a bastion for bacteria. Never blow on them. That spreads germs. You can wash them just like your hair. Just use a simple hair shampoo and leave them to dry and they'll be ready for you in the morning. Another tip, just toss your toothbrush in with your dishes in the dishwasher just a couple times a week. The hot hot heat will help to keep germs away. Soak loofahs, scrubby mitts and body sponges. Do this in a mixture with hydrogen peroxide and water overnight. With a swipe of alcohol on a cotton ball, you can clean up your tweezers, your scissors, anything else you use on a daily basis and finally organize. This might seem simple and straightforward but I recommend you organize your tools into three categories, bag one for your tools and brushes. Another bag for the items you use every single day and the third bag for things that are special, those special occasions like when he's going to propose. Ladies you will be so surprised how much faster you get ready in the morning and how much better your skin looks when you're not using germ infested powder puffs and two year old mascara. For the Beauty Lab, I'm Tracy O'Conner. Bye bye.
