I'm Terry with Towers Murray Plumbing, here to show you how to fix hot water problems in a shower. Now, on a hot water pressure problem, depending on what kind of shower valve you have. Of course, the first thing you have to do, is pull out a part to find out what you've got. Remove the cartridge, this particular one has a locking clip. Some of them will have a locking nut, to hold that in place. And once you get that cartridge out, at this point, you need to find out if you've got a pressure balance style, or the old original style. Now, a pressure balance, when you lose a hot water pressure. Typically it's because of the balancing portion, which is built into this cartridge. Now, some of them are a little larger, but it still has a balancing portion. The balancing portion gets hard water, calcium, and rust build-up inside of it. And no longer functions properly. Sometimes they can be cleaned and rebuilt, other times you just have to replace that entire cartridge. Once you get your new cartridge, you're ready to reinstall, you should have plenty of hot water pressure.
