Sleep on this: Today, we're giving you essential tips to get your very best beauty sleep. Beauty, skincare, makeup. We do the research, and bring you the results. This is Beauty Lab. Who doesn't want to be sleeping beauty? She has the perfect hair, the perfect skin, and the perfect prince. So, here are my top tips for you to wake up to a fairytale face and, hopefully, a storybook ending. Pillow talk: Silk pillowcases. Alright, ladies, silk is the way to go. Beauties like Joan Crawford and Bette Davis and Grace Kelly, they all used silk pillowcases back in the day. Why? Silk won't cause static in your hair, so it'll leave it nice and silky. And, it also is much gentler on your skin than cotton, so it won't cause lines or wrinkles. And, one last tip: Do not use dirty pillowcases. You want to make sure that you change your pillowcase at least every two to three days. Detergent dos and don'ts: Believe it or not, most detergents contain harsh chemicals, and even toxic ingredients, making them pretty bad for your health, and especially bad for your skin. So, your best beauty bet is to look for a detergent that's free of synthetic colors, artificial fragrances, and the following irritants. Yuck! Skip the dryer sheet. Instead, wet a washcloth and sprinkle your very favorite essential oil on, and toss it in. Green dreams: Don't go to bed alone! Consider getting cozy with a plant in the bedroom. Studies by NASA show that having indoor plants can reduce up to 85 percent of the indoor air pollution. Plants detoxify the air, add oxygen, and even moisture, making it much healthier for the air you breathe, and for your skin. Always wash and moisturize. Think about it, you wouldn't want to leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight. Same goes for your face, okay? Always, always, always wash your face before you go to bed. Why? You got to get all that junk off your skin, the dirt, the debris, the gym, stress, your ex-husband, get it off! Humidify it: You don't have to take your talents to Miami to get the benefits of a humid climate. Instead, just get a humidifier. A humidifier adds moisture to the air and to your skin, so you wake up looking gorgeous and glowing. Sleepy tea time: A nice, warm, calming beverage will help you get better rest. Eight hours: You've got to get your Z's. Why? DHA, the growth and repairing hormone, is released at night. So, you got to give your body enough time to repair. Otherwise, you're going to wake up in the morning, and you're going to look really tired and haggard. And, the truth is, you can actually develop a sleep dep, which will affect your thinking, your motor skills, and the way you look. Sleep in a dark room: In the absence of light, your body produces melatonin, which helps you to relax, and gets your body into REM much easier. And, finally, have a shag: Shagging produces the hormone oxytocin, which is proven to help heal injuries, and reduce inflammation. Here's some more benefits. And, if you "have a headache", cuddling has proven to be almost as effective. Follow this tips, and you'll be a sleeping beauty in no time. For the Beauty Lab, I'm Tracy O'Connor. Sleep tight.
