Hi, my name is Bob Linde. I'm an acupuncture physician and registered herbalist. Today, I'm going to talk to you about how to use herbs to boost your memory. Of course, there are many different reasons as to why we may be having poor memory. So, depending on what particular disorder or disharmony that you may be dealing with that's causing your poor memory, choosing the right formula will be the exercise probably of an herbal expert. There's a number of Chinese herbal formulas that are oftentimes used for that. Bu Nao Pian is oftentimes used for the elderly when they're memory is starting to go a little bit, and then we can use things like Gui Pi Wan, that can happen at any age, that we get some muddled thinking, and we see a disharmony that's specific for that, and then we can use some essential fatty acids where good research has shown that that can help reduce some of the inflammation that exists in the brain, and therefore making the thinking process a little bit better. And then, of course, everyone knows about Gingko, and so Gingko is something that actually allows the blood to be a little bit thinner, and probably helps with the oxygenation of the brain, improving thinking in that manner. Although there has been a lot of research with Gingko, there's been conflicting reports as to its benefit, but one of the things that's not been there is using it in combination with other herbs based on a particular individual, and that's where the herbalist comes in. So, I would always recommend that if you are having a problem with your memory, that you go ahead and contact either a medical professional or your local herbalist to ascertain the best combinations of herbs for you to improve and boost your memory.
