I am Dr. Dicie Nathani with Holistic Vitality Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. I would like to share some information about treatment for arthritis of the feet. Arthritis of the feet is generally associated with wear and tear of the foot from wearing an improper shoe device. It's important to have a shoe that has adequate space for the toes and a proper width if your foot is wide; but, it's also important to have adequate arch support. If you are a person that's on your feet for an extended period of time, then, you need a shoe that has adequate support on the arch to reduce stress on the small joints on the foot. When you come in for treatment, we usually focus on the flexibility of the foot and if the foot is too flat or not moving appropriately through the gate cycle, we would generally put you in a Northotic so that we can correct your bio-mechanics with the foot and reduce stress on the joints which can result in arthritis. That was some basic information, but find a practitioner that will offer you preventative health care by addressing your bio-mechanics, your lifestyle and diet.
