Hi, I'm JJ Virginia, nutrition and fitness expert of, here today to talk to you about how to prevent overeating. Now first off I want you to take a deep breath and forgive yourself because guess what, 40 to 70 percent of overeating is actually dictated by your genes. Can you believe it? But thankfully your genes don't have to be your destiny so I'm going to give you some great strategies to save you from the binge. Okay now, the number one thing is don't bring the enemy into the house. I don't know about you but I can't eat just one, okay so chips, popcorn, cookies, crackers, anything that is your nemesis, keep it out of the house. That's number one. Number two, when you're eating, eat with smaller plates and you want to slow down. I tell people to put the fork down in between bites and chew really important. Next thing that really helps appetite and improves satiety is to fill up with fiber and so my best suggestion here is to fill up with some incredible great tasting fiber rich food like lentils, oats, berries, nuts and seeds, put those into each of your meals and then drink lots of water in between because that's going to slow down stomach emptying and help you fill fuller longer. Really important, now when you're done with the meal, get up, no seconds, remove yourself from the situation and my number one tip there is to brush your teeth. Get the taste out of your mouth.
