Hi, I'm JJ Virgin, nutrition and fitness expert of here to talk to you today about instructions for increasing iron in your diet and incidentally iron worldwide is the number one biggest nutrient deficiency. Now the easiest way to do this is to make sure that you are cooking in cast iron pots but there are a couple more tricks that I have for you. When you're eating foods that are rich in iron and these foods, believe it or not scallops, one you might not know about, turkey and of course we all know that red meat is and you want to choose grass fed beef whenever possible. When you're eating these heme sources of iron, the way that you can increase your iron absorption is to eat them with Vitamin C rich foods as well. Of course I'm always going to do a shout out to just drinking a glass of emergency but you could be making a meat sauce here with tomatoes which are rich in Vitamin C. Red peppers are one of the highest sources of Vitamin C and then of course oranges. Now some of the non-heme sources that are high in iron include artichokes, spinach, dried fruit, lentils and eggs.
