Hi, I'm JJ Virgin, nutrition and fitness expert of and today I'm here to talk to you about how to lose weight with water and calorie intake and I want to impress upon you that calories do count but where they come from counts more. So, I'm going to show you my plate and what I want to emphasize is that your diet should include clean lean protein, healthy fats, high fiber starchy carbs and loads of non-starchy vegetables and when you look at losing weight you want to lower your overall calorie intake by taking some of the poor, poor foods and I would say things like refined carbohydrates, damaged fats, get rid of those and up your fiber, up your vegetables because those are very satiating. Let me give you some examples. My favorite high fiber foods are oatmeal, raspberries, lentil soup, apples, nuts. Nuts are high in fiber but remember these you have to eat in moderation. A serving of nuts are ten and if they're big nuts, five, so don't go crazy on those and finally freshly ground flaxseed meal. When you increase the fiber it slows down stomach emptying and suppresses a hormone that the stomach secretes called ghrelin, so it helps you feel fuller longer. Now the way that you can really turbo charge that is to make sure that you're drinking lots of water in between meals. You'll see here that I'm using a safe stainless steel drinking bottle rather than plastic. You want to be drinking 64 ounces or more a day in between your meals. Don't drink too much with your meals. It dilutes your stomach acid and can impair digestion and one more little issue. Make sure that you're watching those sugars. Again we talked about not eating those empty calories that make your calories count and so sweeteners just boost the calories without giving you any nutrition so I love to use Xylitol and I'm going to also do a shout out for green tea, iced or hot. So, if you need it to be a little sweet, Xylitol is the answer because this actually can support weight loss because it also slows down stomach emptying and it's very low in calories. I'm JJ Virgin of, and that's how to lose weight with water and calorie intake.
