Hello, this is Coreen with Shakes Bakes, and right now we're going to talk about how to store unused ginger. I have two pieces of ginger here that I'm going to use to store two ways. One in the freezer and one in the refrigerator. The items that we're going to need to do this are a paper bag; this is just a paper bag that I had in the cabinet, paper towel, Ziploc bag and plastic wrap. So the first thing we're going to do is we're going to talk about how we freeze the ginger. This piece of ginger is bigger than the other and that's why we're going to freeze it because the smaller piece last up to three weeks. And so, if you have more and you don't feel like you can use as much ginger in three weeks amount of time, you want to go ahead and put that in the freezer anyway. So, we'll take the bigger piece, we'll freeze it. The first thing we're going to do is take our plastic wrap. We're going to wrap it up just like this. Make sure you get all the areas, wrap it nice and tight. Right after that, you want to open your plastic Ziploc bag, just tuck it in there. What I like to do, I like to zip the Ziploc bag from one side, almost to the other side and I get out the rest of the air. Oh, there it is. Here we go. You can tuck that in the freezer just like this. Let's talk about the other piece of ginger. This is the ginger we're going to put in the fridge. What we're going to do is we're going to take our paper towel; we're going to do similar type of motion, we're going to wrap it. Wrap it up, wrap it up, wrap it up, wrap it up, wrap it up. And just take your plastic, I'm sorry, your paper bag; go ahead and insert it into your paper bag. And if you have a marker handy, you want to write exactly what it is that you can identify it. You label these and you put them away. And it's that easy how you store unused ginger.
