Hello, my name is Carol Hughes. I owned and operated Custom Costumes and Tailor Maid for 25 and 30 years. Today, I'm going to teach you some basics in ironing. Today, I'm going to teach you how to press a shirt. I began with the underside of the collar and press that nice and smooth. And I flip it over and do the right side of the collar. And then, I press my facings down the front. And proceed to the yoke. After that, I iron the sleeves. Beginning with the cuff underside and then the outside. And then I fold it on the seam. Smooth it out and press. Flip it over and press the other side. Repeat with the other sleeve and then proceed to the body of the shirt. I usually begin up near the shoulders. And then proceed around the body. You may use starch if you want. I rarely do and it's stiff. And that's how you press a shirt.
