Hi, this is Chris Palmer. Welcome to Chris's Workshop. Today, we're going to change a light switch. To change a switch, maybe your switch breaks or maybe you want a dimmer switch in place of your regular switch. What you want to do is remove your switch cover, remove these two screws. This is what attaches the switch to the electrical box inside the wall. Pull the switch out and you should see these two black wires and the two white wires should be connected with the wire nut and of course your ground is in place. Gently loosen up your hot terminals. This is all assuming you've turn the power off at your breaker panel and double checked that there's no power coming into this location. Be very careful about that. Loosen up your power terminals, remove the wires, put your new switch in place. Put the black wires back on your terminals. Make sure the loop goes in the direction that the screw tightens, no exposed wire beyond your screw terminal. Tighten them up securely, gently fold the wires back in the box, reattach the switch to the box and you should be good to go. Again, I'm Chris Palmer. Thanks for joining me. That's how you change your light switch.
