Hi, I'm Mickey Demos, Jr. here at Biscayne Boxing and Fitness Club in Miami. Today, we're going to go over strength training for boxers, and to help us out is our conditioning strength trainer, Rob Fox. He was hand-picked by us because of his expertise in strength training boxing. He is a former professional football player with 10 years of boxing experience, and he's going to demonstrate how to increase explosive speed with strength punching. He's going to show you an exercise on how to increase explosive speed on your strength punches. Ready? Yes sir. Now, the explosive speed is what a boxer needs to increase his punching power at the top, and what he's doing is he is pushing his weight up and actually exploding an inch and a half off the ground on each hand. This right here is going to definitely increase somebody's speed at the top and power. Okay, and after a while, he'll transition to a moderate move. Now, he's increasing the flexibility as well in the shoulder. Flexibility is also extremely important, along with strength for increasing a boxer's power and speed at the top end and that front raise in the front is designed to increase flexibility while increasing strength. Now, he's just getting radical. It's the same movement. He's getting a flex at the top, and a stretch at the top of the movement, and more explosion. Now, he is at the tail end of the exercise, where a person, your boxer is actually starting to fatigue and he's going to get a little bit more work out of the boxer by letting the fighter put the knees on the ground, continuing with the same movement. That way, you can extend the exercise after you've hit the wall and burnt out. That's good Rob, nice work, beautiful work.
