Hi, I'm CarolAnn with, and today I'm going to show you yoga poses for clearing lungs. The first thing we want to do is to gather our breath, and focus on our breathing technique. So, one technique that we can do is a long, deep, breathing technique. So, gently place one hand right at your belly, and the other hand right at your heart, and jut simply close your eyes, and breathe in through the nose, and out through the nose. Long, deep breaths. And, as you continue to breathe, you want to focus on drawing the breath in through the back of the throat, down through the heart, all the way to the belly. Allow your belly to fill deep, and then exhale, reverse that. So, you could perform about 10 breaths just like that. Another breathing technique you can do is alternating nostril breathing. So, what you want to do is take your thumb, and then take your ring finger and your pinky. Take your thumb, and gently place it over one nostril. Inhale, hold gently for a moment, switch over to your index, or your ring finger and your pinky, and then exhale out through the other nostril. Then, inhale, thumb, and exhale. And, one side on each. Right and left, and then left and right. That is one round. And, you can perform that for 10 rounds. Now, a nice pose that we can do to really clear those lungs, and we add movement to the body, is a Cat Cow Pose. So, you're going to come on your hands and your knees, a nice neutral spine, lengthen out through the crown of your head. Inhale to prepare, and exhale as you draw the tail bone under, and you draw the chin towards your chest. And then, reverse into a Cow Pose, where you open the chest, and really lengthen the tail bone up towards the ceiling. And then, exhale as you round into a cat pose, tuck that tail bone under, tuck the chin under, really stretching through the spine. And then, Cow Pose. So, you want to think about your breath. Exhale into Cat. Inhale into Cow. And, breathing is especially important. Now, the last exercise, or pose, that we are going to perform, is the Bridge. So, you want to come down on your back. Arms are anchored into the floor, and draw your shoulders down away from your ears. Your feet are about hip width apart. Inhale, and exhale as you lift the tail bone up, pressing your glutes, squeezing, hips up towards the ceiling. Inhale, and exhale, imprinting down, ensuring that you've got full breaths here. And, inhale. Exhale as you're coming up. Press those hips up to the ceiling, inhale at the top. And, exhale as you're coming down. And, that is the way that you can perform yoga poses to clear the lungs. I'm CarolAnn with
