My name is Jami Sharp, and I'm the competitve program director and head coach for Black Diamond Gymnastics in South Jordan, Utah. Today, we're going to be talking about how to find a gymnastics coach for your kids. There are a while bunch of elements that are very important when looking for a gymnastics coach. One of the first things you want to do, besides making sure that the facility is safe, and that the program is run by USA Gymnastics, or at least certified by that, is making sure that you come in and watch a class. Some gyms have viewing areas, some have spots where you can actually come in and pay attention to what is happening in the gym. Most importantly, come and watch a class. Watch how the coach interacts with the children. Watch how the coach gets excited when they're learning new skills. You could even see how the coach may do with discipline. Another big thing, if you cannot hear their voices, is their mannerisms. Are their eyes telling a happy story, or are they being negative toward the kids? Are the arms and the hand movements a positive, exciting motion? Can you hear their voice from outside? Those are some of the most important things to look with your kids, not just worrying about if the coach has all the skill levels important are necessary for coaching. But, just making sure that they love those kids, and you can tell that they enjoy working with them. Once again, my name is Jami Sharp, and I am the competitive program director and head coach for Black Diamond Gymnastics and Sports Center in South Jordan, Utah. And, we have been talking about how to pick a gymnastics coach for your kids.
