I'm Amy Hamilton-Weldon, Oakwood Nail Spa, Raleigh, North Carolina, and I'm going to tell you how to trim your toenails correctly. The best way is not to use clippers, like I said before. Your toenail, or any kind of nail, is shaped like this. Clippers, when you look at them, are shaped like this. And so, if you try to clip your - something that's shaped like this, with something that's straight, it's going to bend it up. Well, when you bend it up, it's going to have a tendency to crack in the corners. And so, the best way to trim a toenail if you have to use clippers, is to bite it a little bit at a time and just do a little. Not try to do the whole thing across. But, you know, maybe a little on the corner, get both corners and then the middle, maybe. Or, the best way is just to use a file, and to file them down. Unless you have a long way to go, it really doesn't take that long to file down, you know, the length of a toenail, especially if you're doing it on a regular basis, like you should be. Okay, those were just some basic tips, but you should always consult a nail professional.
