Hi, this is Victoria Warfel, with DreamDogz Training, located in Gainesville, Florida, here to talk about how to train your dog to be calm. Exercise your dog, play with your dog. Those are going to be the two biggest friends that you have is exercise and play. You want to do basic obedience with your dog. If your dog knows sit, down, come, stay it's going to be easier to work that into daily routine for a sit to say please where he has to ask for everything. He wants to play. He is going to sit first. If you can get your dog liking a tennis ball, it's going to help wear him out and you can throw the tennis ball and if your dog brings it back and you throw it again and he brings it back and you throw it again and he brings it back, well you've taught him that he can kind of demand to be thrown the tennis ball by bringing it back. But if you pick him up and you have him sit or down and stay for just a few seconds, and as he calms down, throw it, you're rewarding that little state of calm and giving your dog some structure and your dog is going to be a lot calmer for it. By getting crazy over a tennis ball isn't the way to get it, but by being calm is the gateway to all good things.
