Hi, I'm Stan DeFreitas, Mr. Green Thumb, for Tips on how to shade rose flowers. Well, I guess my answer is going to be that you shouldn't do that. Typically, a rose needs about six hours of good sun a day. So, if you start to try to shade the flower, you're probably not going to get the kind of results that you're looking for. Remember, all plants synthesize their food in the foliage, and in this foliage is where we build up the sugars and carbohydrates that the plant gets to use to put on the beautiful flower that you and I like. So, if you're getting the idea that you think you want to kind of hide the flower away and save it for a shady day, I guess my answer is going to be, you shouldn't do it. It's not really helpful to the plant, and it's not really good for the bloom. Make sure your plants get watered well, stay well-hydrated and that you fertilize them on a pretty regular basis. These are some tips on what not to do. I'm Stan DeFreitas, Mr. Green Thumb.
