Hi, this is Cristen with Cool Springs Eye Care in Franklin, Tennessee, and I'm going to talk to you about how to remove your hard contact lenses. There are two different ways that you can remove your hard lenses from your eyes. The first way and the way that most people do it is to blink them out. You may hear people refer to it as blinking your lenses out. And what you'll do is you'll pull your eyelid taught to the side and blink really hard, and the lens should just pop right off your eye. When you do that you want to make sure that you are bent over your hand or a table, or a flat surface so that you don't lose the lens, 'cause it will just fall right off your eye when you do that. If you have trouble doing it that way, your eye care provider should be able to give you one of these little plungers. And when you use this, it's important to remember not to slide the lens on your eye. You are just going to stick it straight onto the center of the lens without putting pressure on your eye and pull it off. And you may hear the suction break as you pull the lens off your eye. And those are the two ways that you can remove your hard contact lenses.
