Hi, this is Victoria Warfel, with DreamDogz Training and Behavior, located in Gainesville, Florida. Here to talk about how to get your dog to stop jumping and scratching at the door. Never reward this behavior. If your dog's jumping and scratching at the door, to get let outside, to go potty or to go for a walk. You want to wait him up. Now, if it's potty, get him outside and let him potty. If it's a walk, it's a different story. As he starts jumping up to scratch at the door. Ignore him, turn, walk away and sit down, the walk isn't going to happen, then. Your dog should quickly realize that every time I jump and scratch at the door. She goes and sits down and I don't get my walk and I really want my walk. If your dog does sit nicely, oh, what a good boy, remain calm, you don't want to get all excited. That'll help lead to the jumping and the scratching. Leash him and go for the walk. You can also play the open-close door game. Where as the dog you know, as he jumps up and scratches at the door, he door shuts on him. And if he sits nicely, the door opens.
