Hi, this is Jason Morgan with Muscleworx Fitness in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. Today, we're going to talk about ways to work out to help improve your body fat percentage. When designing a workout program that's congruent with your body fat percentage, a couple of things you want to keep in mind. If you have a lower body fat percentage, you may be looking to gain muscle mass and not add a whole lot of body fat to that to keep the physical appearance that you have or even enhance it somewhat by having an increased appearance of the added muscle. If you have a higher body fat percentage, you're obviously looking to slim down, get more definition to the muscle whether you're male or female. There's a couple things that we can keep in mind for both instances. If you're looking to gain muscle mass and you have a lower body fat percentage, you want to keep your nutrition in line but the likelihood is you have a little bit more leeway with what you can do. Using heavy compound movements, working out as little as three days a week, performing total body workouts can dramatically increase your muscle size as well as keep your body fat levels in check. Now, if you are that person that needs to lose body fat, the adjustments that you're going to make to your workout could be as simple as decreasing the length of time that you rest in between each set. You can still stay with a three day a week total body routine using heavy compound movements, but take a shorter rest break. So, instead of resting a minute to a minute and a half, or even two minutes in between each one of those sets, try to cut your rest periods down to 30 seconds or less. You can perform those exercises in a circuit fashion increasing your heart rate, giving you more of a cardiovascular benefit and a higher caloric expenditure in the same length of time. Those are a few tips to help you improve your body fat percentage while working out.
