Hi, I'm Tyler Elliott with Elliott Remodeling, and in this segment I'm going to show you how to replace a light switch. When replacing a light switch, it's important to know whether it's a single, dual, or triple gang light switch. What that means is how many switches are there and how many lights does that switch or switches control. This, of course, is a single gang switch. It controls one light and it's only one switch. On the back of your single gang outlet, there are going to be three wires: your positive, which is red usually, and your negative, black, and your continuity, which is usually green, or black as well. You attached your negative and your positive wires to the top, to those holes marked negative and positive on your switch. The continuity line is the other black one, and that goes on the bottom of your switch. That continues the circuit. Once you've installed the positive, the negative, and the continuity, you can reinstall your light switch and turn the power back on for your light.
