Hello there, I'm Kendall McGuire, Professional Singer and Musician in Tampa Bay, Florida, and today, I'm going to be speaking to you about how to prepare your voice for singing audition. Well, first and foremost, you must find what the audition is, what the requirements are for the audition so that you can adequately prepare. If you're given sheet music online, you can print that out and prepare by going over that, learning the parts; perhaps playing it out on the piano for yourself and singing along. If you're not as proficient on the piano, you can maybe find a CD soundtrack and rent that from the library or purchase it at, you know, a music store and prepare that way by listening and by singing along perhaps with the CD. So really, be prepared. Know if you need to present a monologue. Know if you'd be doing some improv as well if you're singing. Oftentimes, with singing roles, they also expect you to be at a certain level of proficiency with acting. Also, do your scales and exercises prior to the audition. Do not drink any sort of milk or, or, or fluids that would, that would cause phlegm in anyway or congestion. Do not eat or drink anything with sugar in it. So, if you're having a breakfast, I would recommend, you know, grains, oatmeals, apple is good for, for clearing you up. So, nothing sugary, nothing dairy, really, really want to keep your chords clean for your audition. Do you vocal exercises in scales. "So-ooooohhhh", "So-ooooohhh". You know, doing it louder or softer, in different keys, in different ranges, really getting yourself warm, warmed up and adequate. Don't push yourself, don't hurt yourself before an audition. But really, get yourself comfortable and, and really tuned up and warmed up for your audition so that you can do your best because you've adequately prepared and now you're warmed up. And, if you do feel any sort of, sometimes you get, "Ah-em, ehm", before your audition, of course you have your handy water which is at room temperature, not cold; remember, because that'll constrict and ice up your chords. You want that room temperature water or a little bit warmer if you, if you can stand it for your chords to continue to keep them warm. Thank you very much. Good luck auditioning. I'm Kendall McGuire.
