Hi, I'm Deserie Valloreo, clinical herbalist in St. Petersburg, Florida. I'm here to talk to you today about coconut oil and using it in aromatherapy. Coconut oil is a tropical oil. It has many applications. It's also known as coconut butter. It's normally found in its solid form when it's stored at cooler temperatures but it melts very easily at body temperature making it ideal for massage oils. One application of coconut oil in aromatherapy is to make a salve. You can use coconut oil as your base in making your salve as your base oil. You would want to use four parts coconut oil to one part beeswax. You melt the beeswax in the coconut oil and then add the desired essential oils as you would like and then pour it into individual containers, wide mouth containers and let it cool. Once it's cool, you can add a lid and the way that you use it is you sniff it or by rubbing some on to your temples. That is using coconut oil in aromatherapy.
