Hi, my name is Bob Linde. I'm an acupuncture physician and registered herbalist in St. Petersburg, Florida. Today, we're going to be talking about acupuncture for fertility. One of the things that's often forgotten when dealing with fertility, is it takes two. So more often than not, it's the woman who's seeking help from the acupuncturist for dealing with fertility issues and trying to regulate the menstruation. But it's important to recognize that we can also boost the fertility for men. So there's many different things that can be a factor in male fertility. Anything from viscosity of the seminal fluid, to the shape and the number of the sperm. So there's a number of different things that can be tested at a fertility clinic. But then addressed using acupuncture, Chinese herbs, diet and lifestyle, all of which can be effective. So when you go in to see your acupuncturist trying to deal with fertility issues in both men and women, you'll find that they do a complete medical history, and if you've already been to a fertility specialist from a Western medical standpoint, they'll review those records as well in order to choose the best acupuncture points and the herbs that can effect your problem. So, once we've gone ahead and selected a very commonly used point that's used for both male and female fertility issues, is ren six, just on the lower abdomen. So we'll go ahead and swap our point, get one of our single use needles that is required in the entire United States, and we'll palpate that point and go ahead and insert the acupuncture needle. And this is one of the more commonly used points for a variety of different causes for fertility. This point is usually retained anywhere from ten minutes to 30 minutes. That'll be determined by your acupuncture physician, and they may even apply things like moxibustion, which is the burning of herbs over the point or even on the needle. So once we've gone ahead and left that in for about 20 minutes, we can remove this point. And we'll go ahead and allow the patient to sit up and go on with their day. So, it's important that you find a good, qualified and licensed acupuncture physician in your local area. There's a number of different sources, but great place to locate a local acupuncture physician is acufinder.com or the NCAOM, which is the licensing organization for acupuncture physicians throughout the United States. So this is Bob Linde. St. Petersburg, Florida, talking to you about using acupuncture for fertility.
