Hi, I'm Sally Landau. I'm a relationship coach in Los Angeles, and my company is Dating Can Be Fun. The question is: how do I date a Christian? I'm going to assume you're not a Christian or you wouldn't be asking that question because Christian's dating Christian's have a lot of things in common. They understand each other, they've had similar backgrounds, they certainly have similar beliefs, and they're are probably aren't the kinds of issues that you're concerned with. So where would your concerns lie? Might it be that you might not understand what they believe? Might it be that you're really clear in what you believe in. You're afraid that they're going to impose their values on you. May it be that you're worried that your respective families are not going to get along or even approve of this relationship. Might it be that you might want to sleep late on a Sunday morning and this person wants to get up and go to church? These are all real and possible concerns. Is it a reason not to date somebody? Absolutely not. It's about communicating. Really, the sweet part about a relationship is when we come together understanding what drew us together, our similarities, but also appreciating, valuing, and encouraging our differences. If you got enough going on that you really love each other, I wouldn't let religion stand in my way. I would have a really mature conversation and an open and a continuing dialog with this person so that you know that you're on the same page. I'm Sally Landau.
