Welcome everyone. My name is Thanitra Pichedvanichok, otherwise known to my students as Chef T. I'm a personal chef, caterer and culinary instructor at Tspoons, my boutique cooking school in Ladera Ranch, California. In this clip, we are going to show you how to clean a thermal carafe. What we'll need is an effervescent tablet such as an Alka Seltzer tablet. And a little dish soap. First, we are going to fill our thermal carafe with some cold water. You can go ahead and fill it up about halfway. That's about good right there. Now, we are going to take our effervescent tablet and put in 2 tablets into the cold water. The effervescent tablets actually dissolve and as they dissolve they actually produce carbon dioxide gas which helps to produce the agitation needed to clean out any of the hard water stains and water residue left behind. So, now we are going to let it sit for about 15 minutes and we will come back and check on it in a little while. So, now that our thermal carafe has been sitting here for about 15 minutes with a little bit of cold water and our effervescent tablets. We are going to go ahead and toss out the water. And then now I am going to fill it up with a little dish soap. Just a little squirt of the dish soap is enough. That should be good. And now I'm going to add some warm water into our carafe. Just about half way up to the middle there. And then I'm going to give it a good swirl. Okay, that looks pretty good. Now, I am going to go ahead and drain it out again. Now, I'm just going to repeat that step one more time. This time with just the warm water because we want to make sure we remove any of the dish soap that's still in there. So, give it a good swirl again with the warm water. It's pretty good. You can even actually put your lid on. This will help to give it a better swirl right there. That is enough. Perfect. So, now I'm going to go ahead and drain it out. And we have a nice clean thermal carafe. Now, remember because our thermal carafe is not dishwasher safe you do want to follow these simple steps to make sure that you maintain your thermal carafe and keep it nice and clean.
