Hi, I'm Gretchen Rivas with Relax! Massage Therapy, and today we're going to talk about Swedish massage for the back. For this, you will need oil, a massage table and work space. Whenever you're working on the back you want to use a little bit of oil and we don't ever want to use too much lubricant because that makes you just slide all over the place and the client feels all greasy and yucky; just enough to get a nice glide. And when you're working on the back, you want to go down each side of the spine, warm it up and spread your oil and back up through the shoulder blades across and over that little curve through there and warm up the neck. Always come back down through this way and down again through here and through and around the shoulder blades and over. That feels really good. Another thing that's really nice too is when you come over to the side and reach on through the ribs, pull on through here like this. It feels really nice. And, you can also do a little pressure cross erectors and down through and pull up through like this. Get in here on if you will, around them shoulder and the rhomboid area, little squeeze on the neck area, down the back, back up through and over and around. This is a nice way to begin and end a back massage for Swedish. Okay, let's do that again. And then, all the strokes that I showed you earlier; but, do them more than once and at least three times, but not too much of the same thing over and over. So, you want to switch it up a little bit to give a nice back massage for Swedish massage.
