Hi, I'm Gretchen Rivas with Relax! Massage Therapy, and today we're going to talk about how to use Swedish massage oils. For this, you will need oil, a massage table and work space. When you're working with massage oil on a person, the main thing you want to keep in mind is to use something that's light and not too heavy and greasy. There are many different kinds of massage oils that are available for use. Remember, you want to use something that's not petroleum-based. You want to use something that is natural. Anything that you can ingest you can put on the skin so if you don't have fancy massage oils at home you can use olive oil, safflower oil or any of those. I use a product called Fractionated Coconut oil because it's very light and not very greasy. It washes out of the sheets and doesn't leave the person feeling all greasy and overwhelmed. So, when you're applying it you want to apply it all over. Warm it up in your hands first before you put it on her. Don't just squirt it all over somebody when it's cold. That doesn't feel good. Warm it up, apply it all over and put just enough on so that you have a nice glide but that the person doesn't have an inch of grease on them. That is not a very good feeling. You don't want to be sliding all over your person. You want to have just enough glide to get some contact with their skin. And that's how you use Swedish massage oils.
