Hi, this is Tara Pollak, Physical Therapist at Evolution Physical Therapy here to give you some tips on Achilles tendon strengthening exercises. So, Martina, I'm going to show you how to strengthen the Achilles by doing a calf raise. So, go ahead and turn around and face the table; you can put your hands on the table as support as you do this exercise. With your feet about hip distance apart, what I want you to do is raise up onto your toes, lifting the heels off of the ground and all the way down. Now, what you don't want to do is fly towards the outside of your feet. As you come up, I want you to put pressure on your big toe, just coming straight up moving to your full range of motion and all the way down. Very good. Coming up on the toes, pressure through the big toe and then, all the way down. Good. Now, if you have any pain with this exercise, of course, you'll always want to stop; seek the advice of a skilled physical therapist to make sure that you're doing it correctly.
