Hi, I'm Tara Pollak, physical therapist at Evolution Physical Therapy, here to give you some tips on hand positions for relieving carpal tunnel syndrome or carpal tunnel pain. So, the wrist position that you should have when you are at your computer is a position that is either in a neutral position, or about 20 degrees of wrist extension. The positions you want to avoid are full flexed positions. So, as Shante is at her keyboard, I don't want her wrist resting on the tray of her keyboard. They should be elevated slightly and have just a little bit of a cock up into extension, about 20 degrees or so. That's going to help alleviate pressure through the carpal tunnel. I'm Tara, and these are tips for wrist positions for carpal tunnel syndrome.
