Hi, my name is Marty. I work with Salon Republic. I'm in Studio 1A, and today I'm going to talk to you about how long to actual leave hair color on. As a hairdresser, we're always taught to follow manufacturer's directions. So, same thing applies with anyone applying hair color, you'll always going to follow directions to find out what the manufacturer suggests. Most hair color, whether it's five volume, ten volume or twenty volume developer will be processing for thirty minutes. Thirty volume and forty five volume will process up to forty five minutes and then in some scenarios where you're just toning the hair, you will actually leave the hair color on for up to fifteen minutes. But, the standard processing time for hair color is thirty minutes. It's important that when you're applying hair color that you do not actually stir the hair color immediately. When you get your client in the chair, you want to make sure you prep accordingly 'cause the minute you start stirring the hair color, that actually starts the processing time of the hair color and all hair color has a specific amount of time to process. Depending on the stage of the developer, it can be thirty minutes, it can be forty five minutes. If you stir that color prior to applying it, you lessen the amount of time that that product works and you will not get full processing time results. So, it's just important to follow manufacturer's direction with how long to leave hair color on. My name is Marty, and that's how long you leave hair color on.
