Hello, I'm Mike Rhodes, a House Pro at Ten Pin Alley in Wilmington, North Carolina. Today, we're going to talk about how to throw a fingertip bowling ball. This clip, you will need fingertip bowling ball, bowling shoes, bowling lanes. If you'll notice, almost of your house bowling balls, they're drill for conventional grip and what that means is this is going to your second joint, right there where you'd ode your knuckles in right up to that last knuckle. A fingertip is a little different. You're just putting in the very tips of your finger. What this does is if you're starting to learn to throw a hook, the less clearance you have with your hand on the ball, the more rotation you can put on it. And so therefore, when you put it in, you're just ping into that first joint and relaxing your hand and when you get ready to release the ball, all you have is just the tips to come out around the ball and you can really put a lot more lift and turn on the bowling ball. What you need to do is just put it in and let your hands relax once again. A lot of people have asked me, these are lifters, they are hard; they're soft rubber and what they are, it's a little bit softer than bowling ball themselves, so when you're throwing the ball, some people like them because they give you a little more lift; but other people don't. There's no right or wrong there. It's simply a personal preference and feel. So, whenever you're starting out, talk to your house pro and he'll walk with you through your game personally and find out what is best for you. It is not as stressful on the wrist as most people would think and usually the transition is quite easy. And that's how you throw a fingertip bowling ball.
