So, what are the different basic belly dance moves? Hi, I'm Johanna Krynytzky, coming to you from Hip Expressions Belly Dance Studio here in St. Petersburg, Florida with an overview of all the basic belly dancing moves. Now, in belly dancing, it's a dance of isolation. So, we're going to work from the bottom up. Make sure the feet are together, knees are bent, hips are pulled in, chest is lifted, shoulders are back and down, arms are out to your sides. So, we are working with isolations. So, belly dancing is all that moving that one part of the body without moving the other. For instance, we can do a head slide, we can isolate the shoulders forward and back, up and down, rolling circles are always good. Good. Same things we can apply to the chest. We can go up and down, we can go side to side and we can circle, both a vertical circle or a horizontal circle. Moving down, we have our undulations, our reverse undulations and then, we have all the righted hip work. Hips can go up and down, making slide side to side, making go forward and back and then, they can circle. We can do a nice wide circle. We can pull it in for a pelvic circle. So, there's a wide variety of moves we can add on, onto this or any figure eight movements, with the hips side to side, forward and back, with the chest. And then, we can even isolate and then do just the arm and hand movements for belly dancing. So, the important thing to remember is that you work on your isolations in belly dance and that'll give you a nice overview of all the different isolations and moves.
