How to Make Steamed Rice

Hi, I'm Michelle Karam with Dishes by Michelle in Los Angeles, California. Today, I'm going to show you how to make steamed rice. The ingredients that you'll need for this recipe are butter, salt, rice, water and of course a steamer. The first thing you should know is that your steamer comes with an actual premeasured cup. This cup is super important when you have your steamer because the measurements that you fill in here go along with the lines that are inside of your steamer. There are different lines that measure to each one. So, for this recipe it calls for two cups which is the equivalent of this one cup here and you would fill that to the second line inside. That's what it goes according to the book. So, the first thing you would do is go ahead and put in your rice. Let's go ahead and put in our butter and I'm going to put in about a tablespoon of salt. Since we're not using any sort of chicken broth or anything like that which you very well certain could use for your rice. I just happen to be using water today. So, I'm going to go ahead and put in about a tablespoon of salt. So, that's with my chef's eye, I'll measure that one. And then what we're going to do is we're going to go ahead and fill up to the second line inside of our steamer, this water. So I'm going to go ahead and pour that in and fill it right up to the second line and look at that, it's perfect. The next thing we're going to do is we're going to go ahead and push our button down and push the cook button. There are two different buttons. There is the cook button and the warm button on your rice steamer. If you leave it once it's finished cooking, it will pop right back up to the warm and that will just keep this rice warm until you are ready to eat it. So, what I'm going to do now is simple as apple pie, you're just going to go ahead and close it up and you'll look at it again once the clicker clicks up to warm and it will be all done.
