Hi I'm Dr. Michael Glasmeier from First Impressions Family Dentistry in Antioch, Tennessee. And today, we are going to be discussing ways that stain, stains can be removed from teeth. There are multiple ways that stains can be removed from teeth, depending on the level of stain. From as simple as using a toothbrush, to more complicated things like baking soda and peroxide and teeth whitening, there are multiple ways that teeth stains can be removed. The more simple way for removing stains would be using an ADA approved toothbrush and toothpaste. Most toothpaste have some sort of abrasive agent in it in addition to fluoride. And also, peroxide agents that will help not only whiten, but remove some of the superficial stains that develop on teeth. Using a toothbrush in conjunction with an ADA toothpaste, you just basically brush your teeth in a circular motion angled towards the gums. Going very, very slowly and gently, making sure all surfaces are covered. By doing this, most of the majority of superficial staining will be removed as well as plaque and tartar. For more aggressive stains, typically a little bit of baking soda can also be added into the toothpaste, or find a baking soda formulated toothpaste. Which is a little bit more abrasive than the average toothpaste. The abrasiveness of this in conjunction with the toothbrush will further remove stains that are accumulating on the teeth. On top of using a toothbrush, toothpaste and possibly peroxide and baking soda, a peroxide mouth rinse is also effective in helping removing staining. Following brushing and flossing, you can use a peroxide mouthwash, and rinsing for 30 to 60 seconds will also help eliminate superficial stains on the teeth. In conclusion, there are multiple ways that stains can be removed from teeth, from as simple as a toothbrush to more complicated things like baking soda and peroxide.
