Hi, my name is Tricia Trinque, and I'm a physical therapist at Seabreeze Physical Therapy, and today we're going to talk about how to treat a torn biceps tendon. The materials that we'll be utilizing is a sling or a belt, as well as an ice pack for pain and inflammation. Initially we want to stabilize the shoulder area where the biceps muscle inserts up at the shoulder and comes down along the humeral head and we want to allow the shoulder joint to rest and to reduce pain we utilize ice again around the biceps muscle. In this fashion. Keeping the ice on for ten to fifteen minute intervals several times through the day to reduce pain and inflammation and to allow the healing process to occur. In order to maintain and increase circulation to the tissues, we will have th patient do shoulder shrugs and circles to provide good circulation. Again, my name is Tricia Trinque with Seabreeze Physical Therapy, and today we've talked about how to treat a torn biceps tendon should you have additional pain or discomfort please contact your physician or call 9-1-1.
