Hi, my name is Tricia Trinque, and I'm a physical therapist with Seabreeze Physical Therapy. And today we're going to be talking about how to treat wrist pain. You will need the following materials. We'll be utilizing an ice pack, a wrist splint that provides support under the base or palmer surface of the hand. In order to treat wrist pain effectively, we want to calm down the pain and inflammation by placing an ice pack around the entire wrist and leaving on for ten to fifteen minutes. We often experience wrist pain working too long at a computer, or driving for too long and holding our hands and wrists in one position. So, when you are at a place to be able to comfortably and safely stop, you want to shake your wrists out to get more circulation to the hands and fingers. In addition for treatment of wrist pain, we often utilize a wrist splint that provides support under the base or palmer surface of the hand, utilizing it at night to allow our hand to get the rest that it needs to be able to function properly throughout the rest of the day. Again, my name is Tricia Trinque with Seabreeze Physical Therapy, and we've discussed how to effectively treat wrist pain, utilizing ice, increasing circulation to the hands with shaking out the hands as well as utilizing a night splint to decrease pain while sleeping. Should you have any additional pain or discomfort in your wrist, please contact your physical therapist or physician for further evaluation.
