Hi, my name is Robet Bethell and I'm going to show you how to check a parking brake. To check if a parking brake is working properly, you need to have a car with a parking brake, a jack stand and the jack to jack the rig up. When you pull on the parking brake, there should be a fairly good resistance there. Make sure that the parking brake lever doesn't go from the low side all the way to the end of its reach without coming up tight. If you didn't have that, you would have to go under the vehicle and physically take the adjustment up. There's an adjustment knot underneath there that lengthens and shortens the adjuster cable for the emergency brake. And that is how you check a parking brake.
