Hi, I'm Debbie Tannacore from Wedding Designs by Debbie, here at the beautiful Belmont Mansion in Nashville, Tennessee, and I'm here to tell you how to plan for a Civil Ceremony. Things you will need to plan a Civil Ceremony would be a venue and a marriage license. First of all, you want to find a venue, some place where you can have a nonreligious or religious ceremony based on what you need, but not all Civil Ceremonies have to take place at the City Hall. You can find a nice venue, like here at the Belmont Mansion here in Nashville, Tennessee, where you can get an officiant and they can have a Civil Ceremony right here, where I'm sitting. Also, you're going to want to be able to get that officiant. Some places do offer that service for you, but some places don't, so when you go down to City Hall and to get your marriage license, be sure to ask about how if they have a list of officiants on record, where you can look through some of them, because this person will be doing a very special thing for you and it's not like going into a church and having a minister. This person will be actually doing everything you need to make it special for you. Talk to some of your family members to see if there is any special traditions that you want included in your ceremony. Remember, it's not based on what the venue wants, it's your ceremony. A Civil Ceremony is very, very laid back and has everything to do with what you want for your special day. As for what to have in the actual ceremony, it's entirely up to you. You could pick any type of music, any readings or if you just want a really really quick "I do," you can do that too. Everything is up to you. You can choose whatever you want. You don't have to be stuck to what the church or whoever, whatever venue wants you to choose. And those are a few ideas on how to plan a Civil Ceremony.
