A lesson plan for toddlers should separate indoor and outdoor experiences, and it helps to print out a chart for every day of the week. Learn about efficient scheduling with help from a preschool teacher in this free video on lesson plans for toddlers.
Hi, my name is Krista Blessing and I'm going to talk to you today about how to create lesson plans for toddlers. Materials you'll need are paper, a printer, a computer and a, a computer program, such as Excel. When you're creating a lesson plan for toddlers, you're going to need to have a chart available. You're going to want to make your own, and you can use Excel to do this. I personally have creativecurriculum.net available at my school, and so that's what I use. And when you go on there, they have a chart already made. Now for toddlers, I have a block for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and then in each block I have an indoor experience and an outdoor experience, and that's for each day. All you have is the indoor and the outdoor experience. For example, if I'm going to do a lesson about colors, I may use, for the indoor experience, use a book that's about colors and then for the outdoor experience, hide a particular color block around the playground, and then have them try to find those blocks. And that would be an example of an indoor and an outdoor experience. And then at the top, I have the topic for the week and the classroom name and any special events, such as someone coming in, and maybe a firefighter coming in, or something like that. And then, that's how I set up my toddler lesson plans. And that is how you create lesson plans for toddlers.
