CLANCY ROSE: So now we're going to talk about--one of the first things that's going into the Double Americano, which is the espresso beans. One of the common misconceptions about espresso roast is that for espresso coffee, it's roasted darker than for a normal cup of coffee, which isn't necessarily true at all. You can use whatever coffee you'd like for your expresso. What makes espresso espresso is the process of making the espresso and the extraction process, and that the ratio of coffee to water is a lot higher than a normal cup of coffee. You have a lot more coffee to a smaller amount of water whereas in a cup of coffee, you'd have less ground coffee to a lot more water. So you just want a blend that you're comfortable with and that you like the flavors. And keeping in mind that when you brew espresso, any flavors that you do find in your coffee are going to be a lot more intense when brewed as an espresso.
