Hello, I'm Debbie Benami-Rahm, a career expert with Let's talk a little bit about how to get a civil service job. The first step is to absolutely check out your state civil service commission website. Whatever state you live in, just Google that and bring up that website because for all states the first step is to take a test. This is a pretty in depth process. Take the test. You need to look for where the tests are going to be given, what parts of the civil service system the test addresses that you're interested in. It goes back to what are your talents your skills your passions, your knowledge and your abilities. Think about that first, then look for the test that addresses the type of work that you're interested in. Schedule yourself for the test, pass the test, get the job and pass the probationary period and you have your civil service job.
