"Hello, I'm Dr. Robert Hernandez. I'm a Licensed Psychologist; President and Founder of La Farfalla Retreat House. Let's talk about how to cope and deal with narcissistic personality disorder. First of all, a person with narcissistic personality disorder has a very difficult time with seeing themselves like everyone else. They either see themselves in a very grandiose superior manner or just the opposite. They feel very devalued compare to everyone else. So one way to cope with that sense of feeling is to look around and try to really connect with people; people that are close to you; friends at work, co-workers; anyone that surround you that you can try to establish a connection with. Another perception that people with narcissistic disorder have is that others expect a lot from them and to deal with that, you might look at yourself and say, "I will give as much as I can give." "I will give to the best that I can give to others. But I cannot fulfill others fantasies of me or what they expect from me." But either way, dealing with this disorder in a licensed mental health professional is very important."
