"Hi, I'm Theresa Neumann. I'm here to show you how to change strings on a violin that has a fine tuner. Most violins will have a fine tuner on the E string. So, the E string, which is actually our thinnest string on the instrument, will come in a package. There's a ball at the end, and it is wound at the top to insert into the peg. On an E string, because there's a fine tuner on it, there's a little piece of plastic that's movable. It moves up and down. You leave that on the string, and what you do is you take this ball part; you place it in here until it catches. Then, there's an indentation on the bridge of the violin. You will take that little piece of plastic there, that little rubber piece, and you will set it right on top of that indentation. Once that is in place, you continue with your string. Hold it with your thumb to keep it in place, and you take the end of the string and you guide it through. There's a hole in the peg, and you guide it into that hole. And then, you slowly turn it, turn the peg away from you, until it grabs. Sometimes, you have to put a little bit of tension on it. And also, always remember, if you're not going to use your instrument for, let's say, a month or more, you're going to want to loosen all the strings on your violin, because if you keep those strings tight and you don't play the instrument, it can severely warp, and damage your instrument."
