Hi! I'm Krista Colvin, a professional organizer and creator of Organize The Whole SheBang: The Smart Woman's Guide to Doing It All. I'm going to show you how to gift wrap a box lid. The items you need for this project: wrapping paper, your box lid, scissors, a pencil, tape, and a measuring tape. The first thing you want to do is measure the depth of your lid. So my box lid is 1 1/2 inches so I know I need that much wrapping paper for the edge and I'm also going to add an extra inch. So we're going to go to 2 1/2 inches. So before I cut my paper, I'm going to take a look at my paper and I have two really good sides right here. So I'm going to measure 2 1/2 inches and I'm just going to place a little mark and I'm going to do that from both of my good inch, both of my good edges of the paper. Okay. Then what I'll do is line up my lid. I'm just going to double check. This is a specially important if your paper is not solid. This paper is solid so it's easy for me so I don't have to worry about lining things up. Okay, I have that edge. So I'm almost using my measuring tape as the level before I, before I cut the paper. Okay, just going to move the box a little bit that way, keeping my lines. Okay? So that's great. I'm going to mark this one, I'm just going to move the lid while I do this last measurement so I can really see. I'm going to mark it so I know where my cutting points are. Okay. So I've measured. Next step is to cut a straight of a line as possible. I'm just going to go slow. Okay? I'm just going to double check so I make sure I have this side. Okay, now I'm going to need to go out my 2 1/2 from this end. Okay? So just want to make sure that I'm cutting with my box lid for that. Okay? I'm going to turn the whole paper to make it easier and I'm just gently tugging on the paper so I can get my creased line. Okay. Remove the paper, extra paper so it's not in your way. Now when you have a lid on here, instead of folding everything over, we need to cut some vertical slits from corner to corner. Okay? I'll rotate my paper. I'm going to do the same thing on this end. I'm trying to be careful not to over cut this. Okay, so now I'd just get into the wrapping. Take your long ends first, fold them over, tape 'em. Okay? And tuck this down in so you do both long ends first. And I'm going to flip the box up here just to make it a little bit easier for me to do this. Then we can do the short ends, tuck those in a little bit better. And actually I think it might help if I tape that one down. It seem a little long because of the depth of the box. Okay? Then this end comes over and just repeat the process. Be careful. Get a good crease on the side there. Okay? Okay, so you tape that side and then repeat it for the last side, and you will have your gift wrapped box lid. The last step is to go ahead and put your lid on, carefully crease the edges to give it a sharp finish. And I'm Krista Colvin and that's how you wrap a box lid.
