"Hello, this is Conan Elliott. I'm Director of Instruction here at Camas Meadows Golf Club, in Camas, Washington. Today, we're going to talk about how to get a golf handicap. Well, the first thing you need to do to get a golf handicap is belong to a club. That doesn't mean you have to belong to a country club or to a men's club. You could form your own group of guys. Say you had ten guys from work that play all the time, or you have a group you wanted to call The Hackers Golf Club. You could have any type of club, and then register with your local golf affiliation of the USGA. The way you do that is you literally go onto the website, to usga.org. Then, you would click on the map on your state, and that will bring you in and put you in touch with your local USGA affiliate. At that point, you'd merely register your club. Then, every time you play, you put the scores into the cards. They'll give you a gin card which is called a Gin Card, which is actually the way they just keep track of your handicap. They'll figure it for you. So, the best way to do it; usga.org, your local affiliate; click on the state. They'll take care of you from there. Any questions, call your local USGA affiliate. This is Conan Elliott, and that's how to establish and get a handicap."
