"Hi, I'm Dr.Laura Grashow, a licensed psychologist with DrGrashow.com. Okay, so let's talk now a little bit now about how to be positive after divorce. This might sound like a difficult task and indeed understandably, it is a difficult task, because divorce is one of the most stressful events in life. It's important though, parents to take care of yourself after divorce. And so, that means really honoring some of your own needs. So that you can be in the best emotional shape to then attend to the other people in your life, and go on about the daily business of your life. You have essentially entered into a new life with many changes. It's important for you to be connected with friends and family who are especially supportive. If people in your life are being critical and not supportive, I would recommend that you avoid those, those kind of conversations until you're feeling better about things. The other things that are really basic are, have to do with taking care of your physical health. So eating well, sleeping well, doing things in your life that you enjoy and being around supportive others. That's going to help you be in the best shape to take care of your kids and yourself."
